While spatial deformation has been extensively studied using a single tool, only a few methods aim
to combine several tools for greater flexibility in mesh deformation. Furthermore, existing methods
allow the user either to place spatial tools on the mesh, but the deformation parameters of these tools are already fixed, or to manipulate and change the parameters of spatial tools already
placed on the mesh. In particular, few methods allow the user to define the area of influence
of a tool in the case of local deformation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this project, we present Poser&Pull, an intuitive approach to interactive mesh deformation.
During the interactive session, the user alternates between Posing a spatial tool and its region of influence, and Pulling one
of the available tools to deform the mesh locally (or globally). We allow spatial tools
to be of variable dimensions among the handle, axis, and cage tools, and each tool is associated with a
deformation function that can be modified by the user.
Our concept is based on an intuitive model of mesh deformation with local control in which the user
positions, in the desired order, the spatial tool and its area of influence and specifies the deformation parameters
of the tool. Our model aims to achieve the following contributions: the application of this concept to the three main spatial tools: handle, axis, and cage; the management of overlapping or interlocking areas of influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
