My research focuses on interactive and creative systems to ease the modeling, edition and animation of shapes. Such processes are using sketches inputs or direct manipulation.

Biological phenomena

For this theme, we collaborated with biologists to understand their needs in the visualization of their phenomenon of study. We introduce a first medium for interactive storytelling illustrated by the infection phenomenon.

General creation of content from a sketch

This theme focuses on shape-patterns distributions of anisotropic shapes from a sketch.

From a simple multi-resolution analysis of the shape distributions, we propose an efficient method to synthesize the input distribution into an extended 2D domain. We complemented this extension by 3D embedding, in addition to an illusion of depth to enable users to immediately explore a 3D environment inspired by their sketch.

The analysis and extension in 2D has been presented in Structured Shape-patterns from a sketch presented at Graphics Interface 2022 and the 3D embedding has been accepted to VCBM 2023.

Architectural designs

For this theme, we collaborated with architects to understand their needs. We propose a new 3D sketch to ease the creation and exploration of ideas applied to the preliminary design of man-made shapes.

Our model enables coarse-to-fine sketching of nested structures to progressively shape a 3D building from the floor plan to interior design while keeping the original strokes and allowing for interactive navigation through the alternative design that the sketch visually suggests.

This work has been accepted to SMI 2019 and presented at the International Geometry Summit in June 2019 in Vancouver.

My research focuses on interactive system based on sketch inputs to ease the modeling, distribution and animation of shapes.
